I am a PhD student majoring in theoretical physics in Institute for Advanced Study, Tsinghua University. My interests include quantum information and quantum computation, cold atomic physics and condensed matter physics. My two major academic goals are realizing fault-tolerant quantum computation on cold atomic platforms, and understanding more about quantum information.
I love music. I like to listening to classical music, especially Beethoven and Brahms. I also play the piano and sing a little. Learning languages is also enjoyable to me. I am learning French and Japanese, and planning to learn Latin and Arabic later. Another hobby of mine is the so-called "minor subject", including historical phonology and philology of Chinese language. Most of the time, I relax myself by reading literature and history.
My name is pronounced as /wɑŋ35i51fei55/ in Mandarin. The "t" in "Yit" is the coda that existed in medieval Chinese, which I added to lift the degeneracy.

我的研究尚处于起步阶段,但似乎已经有了一些自己的品味和兴趣。我的入学时的专业是凝聚态理论,但现在主要关注的领域还是量子信息理论和容错量子计算机的物理实现。
在量子信息理论方面,我希望理解量子低密度奇偶校验码的容错性质,包括容错逻辑门、实用纠错算法、纠错阈值等问题,希望与凝聚态、统计物理的交叉能为量子纠错码本身带来新的创见。另一类我关心的问题是玻色编码和量子比特、高维量子比特编码之间的转化问题。
在容错量子计算机的物理实现方面,我主要关心中性原子系统,辅以光学微腔。我认为这类系统至少在短期有明显优势,因此希望能在这样的系统中制造出真正的容错量子计算机。虽然我不从事实验工作,但我希望能在方案选择、原理验证、结合具体平台的优化等方面做一些具体但实用的工作。这方面的一个尝试参见这篇论文。
在上述我试图工作的具体方向之外,我也希望探索更广阔的量子信息理论,包括复杂性理论、量子资源理论、量子机器学习等;也希望了解更多有趣的量子模拟方案及其背后的物理问题。我对凝聚态、场论、引力和宇宙学也保持着探索的欲望,虽然暂时无从下手,但这毕竟是梦开始的地方。
